The Saints captured a much-needed win over the young Tigers of Centreville 65-53. After a slow start, Sylva-Bay fought their way to a nine-point lead at the half. After splitting points in the third, They finished the fourth quarter strong with 20 team points.
Now the focus turns to playoffs, and there are no more easy games. The Saints are the number two seed behind Christian Collegiate going into the South State Tournament next week in Greenville, MS. Saints head coach R.H. Lopez expressed a need of urgency for upcoming post-season play with a very simple message, "We have to play a lot harder and smarter to win at South State."
The Saints leading scorers were juniors Brenton Jones and Brice Johnson with 17 and 16 points respectively. Graves, Milsap, and Thomas were also in double figures.
One thing Lopez and his Saints have in their favor is a strong senior class: River Thomas, Robert Milsap, Campbell Graves, and Brandon Wells. "Our seniors have done a great job this year. The year is not over yet," noted Lopez.
