Presbyterian Christian School announces new track and JV football head coach

HATTIESBURG, MS—Presbyterian Christian School is proud to announce Ryan Reid as our new Head Men’s Track Coach and Junior Varsity Football Coach. Coach Reid will continue to serve as one of the PCS Secondary School Deans in addition to these new duties.

“I am excited to return to the coaching ranks. I believe it is important to provide an atmosphere for our students to develop themselves spiritually, academically, athletically, and socially. I look forward to providing students with opportunities and experiences that will help them be successful and enjoy life to its fullest,” says Coach Ryan Reid.

Coach Reid is excited to build upon his long history as a Track & Field and Football coach. In 2007, Reid served as the Head Track & Field Coach at Oak Forest Academy, where his team earned the titles Varsity Overall Class AA State Champion Runner-up, Varsity Class AA South State Champions, and Varsity Class AA District-5 Champions. In 2009, Reid served at University Christian School, where he led his team to earn the titles of Varsity Overall Class A State Champions (while assistant coach), and JV District Champions (while Head Coach). In 2010, Coach Reid took over the UCS Varsity Program as Head Coach where he brought his team to earn Varsity Overall Class A State Championship Top 5 Finish, Varsity Class A South State Champions, Varsity Class A District-5 Champions, and JV District Champions. He is prepped and ready to continue this consistent record of success with the Presbyterian Christian School’s Track and Field program.

Coach Reid has a long list of football experience to bring to the Athletic Department, as well. In 2006, he served as the Varsity Football Co-Defensive Coordinator for Oak Forest Academy. In 2008-2009, he served as JV Football Offensive Coordinator for University Christian School. Following that, Reid assumed the role of Varsity Football Defensive Coordinator for Columbia Academy in 2010. Then in 2012, Reid brought his expertise to McClain Attendance Center as the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach where they secured an undefeated season and the title of Conference Champions. And most recently, Coach Reid served as our very own PCS Head JV Football Coach in 2014 through 2017, where he brought home the JV District Champion Runner-up title for two years in a row.

Athletic Director, Rob Shillito adds, “I’ve long been impressed with Coach Reid’s ability to lead students on the track and on the gridiron and am looking forward to watching his dynamic energy in the meets and games to come. More than anything, our coaches at PCS are charged with the important calling of shepherding the hearts of their student-athletes. With certainty, I can say that whether the hurdles are on the track or are in the lives of our students, that Coach Reid will guide them and walk with them in a way that honors the Lord.”

“Coach Ryan Reid has been and will continue to be an invaluable asset to our school. He is a skilled administrator, talented instructor, seasoned coach, and all around great guy who is strong in character and strong in his faith. These young men have no idea what a privilege it is for them that Coach Reid will be investing his nearly two decades of coaching experience into them and their program. I cannot wait to see the growth in these teams over the coming year,” shares PCS Headmaster, Dr. Smithers.

Coach Ryan Reid will be assuming these new roles immediately. Please join us in welcoming Coach Reid back to the PCS Athletic Department family.
