HATTIESBURG, MS—Presbyterian Christian School is excited to announce the hiring of a new volleyball coach, Coach Jesse Rechtien. The volleyball program at PCS has been a competitive, hard-working, focused team of athletes, and the search to find a person to match their level of skill and tenacity has finally concluded with the hiring of Coach Rechtien.

Coach Jesse Rechtien comes from a family with deep roots in the game of volleyball. His father was a coach for many years, and as a result, Coach Rechtien has been playing or coaching the game his entire life. Coach Rechtein has been the Director of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Volleyball Club, the premier junior girls/boys volleyball club in southern Mississippi, since 2008. His passion for teaching and spreading the game of volleyball to the next generation. Coach Rechtien is also a USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline coach for U12—U17. He has been investing in the next wave of volleyball players in this coaching role since 2015. From 2015—2018, Coach Rechtein served as one of Hancock High School’s Volleyball Coaches. In this role he helped lead the way to four District Titles, three South State Titles, two Final Four appearances, and one Class Six State Title.

“I am honored and excited to accept the position as Head Volleyball Coach for Presbyterian Christian School. I have always had a great respect for the school and the program as an opposing coach. PCS has always had a volleyball reputation and I'm excited about the future of this program. I'm so grateful for the trust that comes with this opportunity and can’t wait to get started! Go Bobcats!,” says Coach Jesse Rechtien.

“Our entire Athletic Department and PCS are thrilled to have Coach Rechtein on board. He is someone with a lifetime of playing and coaching experience, and our volleyball program and athletes will undoubtedly benefit from his enthusiasm and knowledge of the game. He is the ‘ace’ we’ve been praying for, and it is my joy to introduce Coach Rechtien to all of Bobcat Nation,” shared Athletic Director Rob Shillito.

PCS Headmaster, Dr. Allen Smithers comments, “I commend Athletic Director Rob Shillito for his diligence and hard work to find the perfect person to position our volleyball players for success on the court and in life. The hiring of Coach Rechtien has been long awaited, and it is my prayer that they Lord would use and guide him in the demonstration of godly character, diligence and excellence as a reflection of our Heavenly Father. I expect big things from this Coach and his team and cannot wait to see it unfold!"

Coach Rechtien assumes this role effective immediately.
