HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Nine games against five different foes in last season’s NCAA tournament as well a total of 29 home games highlights the 2020 Southern Miss baseball schedule which was released Monday by coach Scott Berry.

The Golden Eagles, which finished 40-21 a season ago as the Conference USA tournament champions, enjoys another difficult slate that includes 26 games against teams that finished in the Top 110 in RPI according to

Southern Miss opens the season with seven-straight home games, including a three-game series against Murray State, Feb. 14-16, during the opening weekend. After a midweek contest with New Orleans (Feb. 18), the Golden Eagles entertain Central Arkansas (Feb. 21-23) during the second weekend.

The Golden Eagles then travel to Oxford to face Ole Miss, Feb. 25, and head to Lake Charles, La. (Feb. 28-Mar. 1) to face McNeese State twice and Valparaiso once over a weekend visit. Southern Miss, which also play the Rebels in Pearl, March 31, while also taking on Mississippi State in their only meeting of the year at Trustmark Park, Mar. 4.

Other non-conference home tilts for the Golden Eagles include Little Rock (Mar. 6-8), Southern (Mar. 25), ULM (Apr. 14), Southeastern Louisiana (Apr. 15) and South Alabama (Apr. 21).

The Golden Eagles also welcome Conference USA schools FIU (Mar. 13-15), Middle Tennessee (Mar. 27-29), UTSA (Apr. 9-11), Rice (Apr. 24-26) and Louisiana Tech (May 8-10) to The Pete this spring.

Southern Miss takes to the road for non-conference affairs with Troy, Mar. 10, at Riverwalk Stadium, in Montgomery, Ala., Southeastern Louisiana (Mar. 17), Alabama (Mar. 24), New Orleans (Apr. 28) and South Alabama (May 12).

In addition, road league foes include Marshall (Mar. 20-22), Florida Atlantic (Apr. 3-5), Charlotte (Apr. 17-19), Old Dominion (May 1-3) and UAB (May 14-16).

The top eight teams from the C-USA regular season will then meet at MGM Park, May 20-24, for the league's baseball championship tournament. It will be the four-straight year that that venue has played host to the event. The Golden Eagles have played in the championship game in each of the last three tournaments there, winning the last two years.
