Oak Grove fans have several new teams to cheer for next football season as the Warriors sent twelve seniors to play at the next level Wednesday, including seven to Pearl River Community College and one to Southern Mississippi.
"It is pretty awesome to see that you have 12 guys sign at once to play at the next level. It is a big class with seven going to Pearl River, one to Hinds, East Mississippi, Kennesaw State, ULM, and Southern Miss. To me, it shows just how good of a senior group we had this season. It is one of the bigger classes we've had, and it kind of compares to last year's class. Maybe not with all the D-1 guys, but it is comparable. It shows the hard work they've put in over the years," said Oak Grove head coach Drew Causey.
Causey talked about one of his signees that USM fans hope to see a lot of, Brandon Hayes.
"Southern Miss is getting a heck of a football player. He's one of the fastest kids that I've had the privilege of coaching. He's a guy who I think they are expecting him to play some this coming year. It is going to be nice to go watch him play with other guys we have there right now. I'm excited about that," explained Causey.
Hayes is excited to get ready and suit up in gold and black.
"A big part of the recruitment process was staying close to my family. My family is very important to me. If you look at the stats, they [USM] throws the ball a lot, and with me playing wide receiver I wanted to go somewhere that they would air it out, and that's what they do," said Hayes.
Other signees on the day were:
Javarian Jenkins, University of Louisiana Monroe
Trenton Jackson, Kennesaw State University
Damon Stewart, East Mississippi Community College
Jaylen Knight, Hinds Community College
