ELLISVILLE – The 18th-ranked Jones College Bobcats were all about balance here Thursday night at Bobcat Stadium/Sim Cooley Field.

The Bobcats passed for 205 yards, rushed for 201 yards and rolled to a 31-7 victory over No. 12 Hinds in the MACJC South Division opener for both teams.

Jones is now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the league, while Hinds falls to 2-1 and 0-1.

Running back Ladamian Webb (Opelika, Alabama) had a big night with 126 yards rushing with two touchdowns. He added 56 yards and another touchdown on three receptions.

Quarterback Quaterius Hawkins (Bastrop, Louisiana) was 8-of-9 through the air for 107 yards and two scores. Seven different Bobcats had receptions.

Defensively, end Chei Hill (Miami, Florida) had nine tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, ½ sack and a fumble recovery. Linebacker Daylen Gill (Louisville) had eight tackles, two tackles for loss, ½ sack and a forced fumble. Linebackers Kevon Cloyd (Columbia) and J.D. Rutherford (St. Stanislaus) each had seven tackles. Defensive back Rakeim Ashford (Choctaw County) had two pass interceptions, giving him four picks on the season.

The Bobcats ended the game with 13 TFLs and four sacks. Hinds had three turnovers and the Bobcats had none, while the Eagles missed three field goals and Jones made one and had one blocked.

Jones scored first midway through the first quarter, going 80 yards in just three plays. Webb took a direct snap and raced 57 yards up the middle for a touchdown. Cristofer Thompson's (Adams County Christian School) extra point gave the Bobcats a 7-0 lead with 4:41 showing in the first quarter.

Hinds tied it early in the second quarter, marching 80 yards in seven plays. Quarterback Elijah Walker found Javon Antonio on a 5-yard scoring strike. Houston Smith's PAT tied the game at 7-7 with 12:00 left in the first half.

The Bobcats took the lead for good late in the second quarter. Jones drove 80 yards in 13 plays and used 4:58 of the clock. Webb did the honors on a 4-yard run with 26 seconds showing on the clock. Thompson's extra point gave the Bobcats a 14-7 lead going into halftime.

Jones controlled the second half of play.

An Ashford interception gave Jones the ball at the Eagle 33-yard line.

Two plays later, Hawkins hit Webb for a 31-yard touchdown pass. Thompson's kick gave the Bobcats a 21-7 lead with 27 seconds left in the third quarter.

On the Jones' next possession they would march 82 yards in nine plays. Hawkins found Brodie King (Biloxi) for a 3-yard touchdown pass. Thompson's conversion made it 28-7.

Thompson's 27-yard field goal with 5:10 left ended the scoring. That capped a 20-yard, four-play drive, which was set up by a Hill fumble recovery at the Eagle 30-yard line.

Jones will now head to No. 5 Mississippi Gulf Coast for a division showdown. The Bulldogs are 3-0 after beating Holmes 41-7 on Thursday.
