Local standouts see action in Ole Miss’ Grove Bowl

Ole Miss played its annual spring football game, the Grove Bowl, Saturday afternoon at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. The defense won the contest, 27-21.

Local standouts Scott Phillips (South Jones, JCJC), Octavious Cooley (Laurel), Javon Patterson (Petal), Luke Logan (PCS) and Isaiah Woullard (PCS) all saw action for the Rebels. Phillips led the team in rushing with nine carries for 40 yards, while Woullard added five for 20. Cooley, who was named the team’s most-improved offensive player pregame, caught three passes for 46 yards. Patterson started at left guard. Logan made an extra point on one of the Rebels’ touchdowns.
